Walking Treks - Summer (May - October)

6 Days Into Sahara (Crossin the High Atlas)

Trekking or walking in Morocco offers a rich and colourful experience, allowing a privileged and unhurried contact with a world scarcely changed in a thousand years; friendly peoples and ancient cultures, spectacular scenery and remarkable refreshing activity.

Day 1

07.30 transfer by road from your hotel in Marrakech to the remote Ait Bougmez Valley in the High Atlas (about 4.5 hours drive with picnic lunch en-route). Overnight at Dar Itrane Lodge near Imelghas Village (1,800 m) or another gite nearby.

Day 2 - about 6.5 hours walking

Cross the Ait Bougmez Valley and climb the Tizi n'Ait Imi Pass (2,900 m). Overnight camp near Tighremt n' Ait Ahmed.

Day 3 - about 6 hours walking

Continue along the M'Gound River, passing through the Ouzirimt Valley. Overnight camp near Ighrem Izdern.

Day 4 - about 4 hours walking

Enter the narrow gorges. In May and June, if the water in the gorges is too deep, there are alternative routes through the Tizi n'Ahmed Pass (2,900 m). Overnight camp at Tirinamine (2,020 m).

Day 5 - about 6hours walking

Continue to Aguerzeka and Issoumar. Overnight camp in the village of Bou Trarar.

Day 6

Return to Marrakech after trekking in the area around Bou Trarar. End of our services.
