The American Council for Moroccan
POW's is a non-profit association.
The association may also be referred
to as ACMP.
The American Council
for Moroccan POW's is a non-profit
organization which acts in order
to free and defend the rights of
the Moroccan POW's (civilian and
military) held by the Polisario
Front in Tindouf and other locations
in Algeria.
OUR
GOALS:
1. Educate the
American public opinion about the
plight and conditions of detention
of the Moroccan POW's.
2. Inform members
of the US government (Bush Administration,
members of Congress), state and
local governments, international
organizations (UN, ICRC,etc.), American
NGO's and human rights organizations
about the illegal detention of the
Moroccan POW's despite the fact
that a ceasefire is in place since
1991 which according to Geneva conventions
should ensure the release of all
POW's.
3. Explore the possibility of
taking legal action on behalf
of Moroccan POW's in U.S. courts
against any country, political
entity, organization, corporation,
or person that may have benefited
from the slave labor of Moroccan
POW's and seek reparations for
their
illegal detention.
4. Establish
contacts with Moroccan POW's and
their relatives in Morocco and elsewhere
in order to gather evidentiary materials
that may document any kind of abuse
and human rights violations suffered
by the POW's while held captives.
5. Set up a website
that will work as a clearing-house
for information relating to the
issue of Moroccan POW's.
6. Establish a
fund to help the most-in-need POW's
deal with financial difficulties
after their release and also to
provide funds for medical treatment
in the U.S. where appropriate and
necessary.
7. Establish a
scholarship fund for the benefit
of the meritorious sons and daughters
of the Moroccan POW's to help them
continue their education in American
Universities.
